Beware! My close friend had her dog there on Sunday. They charged her over $1000 dollars for some tests, and a scan. Then told her the dog needed surgery, for over $5000. They were cold, and cruel to her. She was told " pay the money up front, or put your dog down. " She had already spent so much on tests, and could not come up with the rest all up front! She had no choice but to put her dog down. They had no compassion for her at all. I'm working on this for her. Her dog was born on Christmas day 2016. She would have been one year old this Christmas. My friend, and her family are heartbroken now for Christmas. This facility could have saved her dog's life with surgery. They just didn't care. Her poor dog is still at UVC right now as i write this. They won't release her dog until she pays more money for the Euthanizing. The dog should have been helped! They have signs asking for Donations to help people, who can't afford the charges for treatment. Why didn't they use that to help her in this case? Hopefully this story will be on local news soon. This is a story people who love their pets, need to know. My friend begged them to save her dog. Her cries fell upon " Deaf Ears! " And that my friends, is very very sad.
I had been to University Vet Specialists several times. This past being the hardest. I could not begin to express the consideration and time they spent with me to make the difficult decision of putting my aggressive dog down. Reassuring me and the right choses and my options. They were truly considered and treated me and my dog with the greatest respect and gave both of us the best care.
Find another emergency center unless money is no object. They said it was $99 plus any meds. I was OK with that. My dog had an inflamed ear. They charged $45 for a routine ear cleaning on top of the $99. Sent us home with a bottle of cleaning solution for $51.52 that retails for $9.99. A few other fees were added for a total of $285. Be careful about the $99 visit. It will most likely be well over $300 for anything more than an irritated ear.
Very friendly from start to finish. Very thorough especially for a Sunday evening. If I lived closer they would be my primary vet.
We brought our chocolate lab here last week with some health issues, when our regular vet couldn't see him. What a wonderful facility. We had Nicholle Jenkins as our vet, and we couldn't be more pleased. She was very compassionate, caring and professional. She explained in detail the procedures needed, and also the up front costs. Also a shout out to Kylie, as she was also wonderful with our lab. I would highly recommend to anyone who needs urgent care for their pets! Thanks again.
